Carrie Barbour Clapp materials, 1883-1942, bulk 1920s-1930s.

The collection contains letters, some poems, Carrie's English composition class assignments, genealogical and biographical information on the Wynn and Clapp families. There are also diaries formerly belonging to Carrie and Mary. There is an obituary for Mary's stepmother, Mary Shera Wynn.

Carrie Barbour Clapp was the daughter of Daniel and Mary (Wynn) Clapp. She had one sibling, a brother, "D. Wynn." The family lived in Scipio, Indiana. Mary Clapp was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota. She earned her master’s degree from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, where she taught in the English department. She moved to Missoula, Montana, in 1921, when her husband accepted the post of president of The University of Montana.
